My Weight: My Enemy, My Friend
I’ve been at war with my weight for a very long time. Over the years I tried different remedies to get my weight under control like hypnotherapy, juicing for weight loss, doctor assisted programs and many others. Some worked in the interim but most times, I would give up if I saw little results with the large amount of effort that I was putting in. I often felt hopeless and discouraged which led me to using food as a comfort mechanism.
It was a never ending cycle: make progress; self sabotage, then eat my way out of guilt.
However, I was always able to look my best no matter what size I was. There was never an issue finding clothing that fit. I spend most of my career working in corporate offices. My closet is filled with suits, dresses and coordinates that complimented my shape. I also purchased garments that stretched or hugged my curves as baggy clothing wasn’t flattering on me.
Not being at my ideal weight was a big issue for me. It ruled my life. My weight decided what I ate that day, what I wore that day, or if I went out to run errands. To compound the issue, it was mainly my perception of my weight and what it meant to me. I didn’t think I was living up to my potential. My outside appearance didn’t match my inner feelings.
Since starting the Ketogenic Diet, I’ve learned to take control of my body. I now make the decisions, not my weight.
